Clark Not Running For Mayor
It doesn't look like the Marion Co. Republicans will have any "A" list candidates for mayor next year. J. Murray Clark, Jr. said today he won't run for Indianapolis mayor next year. This is more evidence the powers that be have already decided Joe Hogsett will be Indianapolis' next mayor.

So is Delaney just a Barnes & Thornburg greenmailer who will drop out of the primary once the Hogsett boys have their demands met by the establishment?
Don't know why Hogsett would care. Delaney can't beat him in a primary.
DeLaney is probably using his bid as a bargaining chip for his son Tim, who will probably wind up with a plum position in a Hogsett administration to bolster his future political career.
Maybe, maybe not. I think Rep. DeLaney really wants to be mayor, though. I'm not convinced he's using this as a bargaining chip. Guess we'll see.
Also, DeLaney's not going to be a pushover at slating or in a primary. He's used to campaigning.
A very wise choice by Clark. Optics are huge-- oh, and by the way speaking of optics, Merritt should refrain as well. At the present time, I'd say the only viable candidate against Hogsett would be Jeff Cardwell.
Here is a Republican candidate to ponder...Rev. Charles Harrison of Barnes United Methodist Church and the Ten Point Coalition. That would make for a very interesting mayoral race. The man has all the right credentials and would play well to the demographics in Marion County.
