Former Republican Virginia Governor And Wife Indicted For Illegally Accepting Gifts, Vacations and A Loan
I would say this should serve as a warning to Indiana elected officials who do the same thing, but our federal prosecutors refuse to prosecute elected official who regularly engage in these practices without consequences. Former Virginia Gov. Robert McDonnell and his wife, Maureen, have been indicted by federal prosecutors in Virginia for multiple counts of illegally accepting gifts, vacations and a loan from a prominent Richmond businessman, Jonnie Williams, Sr. McDonnell supposedly granted preferential treatment to Williams in exchange for the things of value that he and his wife received from him. This is a common practice in Indiana as I've discussed ad hominem on this blog that is never prosecuted in this state.
