It's still early, but it looks like Andre Carson is in good shape to pull off a win in the crowded 7th District Democrat primary. He leads with 41% of the vote with a little over 50% of the precincts counted. Woody Myers and David Orentlicher are battling for second place with 26% and 24%, respectively. Orentlicher thinks there are still a lot of precincts out in the southern part of the county where he expects to do well. We've been down this road before. You can bet Tony Duncan's best precincts will be the last votes counted and provide whatever vote Carson needs to win this thing.
UPDATE: Yeah, this one is over. Orentlicher's and Myers' vote combined will just about add up to Carson's share of the vote, which is now at 44%. There's no future for bright, independent- thinking Democrats like David Orentlicher and Woody Myers in the Marion Co. Democratic Party. How sad.

Extremely disappointing. I'm sad for the electorate. ~~Aryq~~
This is what happens when allegedly several members of a party, upset at a dynasty gained without having earned it, decide to fracture the vote for their own selfish interests. As long as the D's in Marion Co continue to go their 7-divided ways, Carson will win every time.
WHATEVER! Just credit André for a nice victory that you and I both predicted on Special Election night and move on. Carson is a great candidate, and he's going to be in Congress! Live with it!
Jon Elrod officially has my vote-where can I sign up to help with his campaign?
I think you should give some credit to Andre....with much less money than Woody from Califonia, he won big...it proves that having the people with you can offset having the money.
"Carson is a great candidate, and he's going to be in Congress!"
You're half right.
"You can bet Tony Duncan's best precincts will be the last votes counted and provide whatever vote Carson needs to win this thing."
I think that pretty well says it all. Welcome to Lake County South.
People were writing his political autopsy, but he won by 30,000 votes despite being outspent by Woody Myers, a great candidate, and David O., a great candidate. Carolene Mays went from being a rising star in the party to getting lost in the shuffle. I hope she lands on her feet.
André finished second in my normally heavily Republican precinct behind David O. Again, he's a great candidate, and I'm glad to be represented by him in Congress.
