More Strange Happenings In Perry Township Contable's Office

Fox 59 News' Russ McQuaid reports tonight that the FBI has expanded its investigation of alleged corruption in Perry Township Constable Roy Houchin's office. You may recall that McQuaid broke a story last fall about allegations that a chief deputy of Houchins was selling police badges. McQuaid's latest report focuses on Dan Constantino, a former associate of Sheriff Jack Cottey who has a second job heading up the check fraud unit in Marion County Prosecutor Carl Brizzi's office. McQuaid's report focused on guns which were seized from another law enforcement officer in a domestic dispute. The seized guns had been stored in IMPD's property room, but more than a year and half later, Houchin's office claimed the guns as its own property. This is where the story gets rather confusing. As McQuaid tried to track down the guns, a tip led him to a dumpster where he found the guns. There was talk about the possibility that $1,000 had been exchanged by someone for the guns, but McQuaid's report offered no proof that this actually happened. McQuaid's reported indicated that Constantino played a role in the initial retrieval of the guns from the property control room by the Constable's office.

And I left Center Township for this?

Between the Constable and the School Board is there any room for more excitement down here?

Next, something about Southport or Homecroft will be making the news. It's like being in a small town, but not.

Corruption-that is the one word synonomous with Marion County constables! The only county in the state with constables...means we have to ask why is one county so much different.

Tony Duncan, Center Twp Constable lives in a home valued at over 1/4 MILLION DOLLARS...and why is the Center Twp Trustee driving a car equipped with illegal flashing lights and siren? As a deputy constable, just what does the Center Twp Trustee do?

The sooner we eliminate townships, the better!

After a year and a half, why were these seized firearms still in the property room?
There may have been just cause as to why the firearms were not returned to the owner but the law is very specific on what is to happen to seized firearms after a period of time has elapsed.
After 1 1/2 years these firearms should have been destroyed.
This particular case alludes to the fact that what was in the property room was not just an assortment of cheap guns but guns of value.
I wonder how many valuable seized firearms end up in the hands of cops rather that being destroyed as the law dictates.

A $250K house isn't what it used to be. You can afford one on two $50K/year salaries.

Tony Duncan threatened to arrest a congressional and a judicial candidate in the 06 election. He then flashed his badge and gun and threatened me with arrest after I stepped between him and the candidate. Mr. Duncan smelled like a distillery.
If Sheriff Anderson hadn’t showed up to campaign there would have been to fat boys rolling around in the dirt.
What a buffoon Duncan is, corruption and a fat head all wrapped up in one package. Toss in a gun, booze and a badge and we have a walking time bomb. Marion County doesn’t need this.

In addition to being a silly constable who walks around like he owns Center Township, Mark "Tony" Duncan is treasurer of the Marion County Democratid Party.

The fun never ends.

Sounds like law enforcement when the McAtee's were in charge! Oh, that's right, they still are in charge but they let Frank Anderson pretend that he is a real cop! Children are our flowers! Don't be a fool stay in school! It's not the brown or blue its what we "don't" do! My name is Frank, I'm in the tank!

I think Constable Houchins was former Sheriff Cottey's pal.

Currently, I live and own several properties in Marion County. In regards to all the Small Claims Courts...Center Township is the "BEST". The new Center Township Judge-Michelle Scott, The Constable-Tony Duncan, and the entire staff are very organized and professional. I have had problems in the other courts but Center Township is the BEST and the entire staff should be praised for all their efforts. Keep up the good work.

I have never seen such IGNORANT comments relating to Tony Duncan's home. Everyone is entitled to their opinion but however much he paid for his home is his BUSINESS. Have you checked the Value of his SHOES...I own property in the same neighborhood and his home has only helped in the revitalization of this area. Let's focus on the economy and how we can work to improve things. Nobody's property is hardly worth anything these days...
